On Wednesday, May 7th, the Bold Monk Brewing team welcomed Ira Gesner as Brewer for a Day. Ira is newly retired after a 35-year business career. He has been the CFO of several manufacturing companies across a myriad of industries. At his heart he loves learning how things are made. He has always been a big fan of the craft beer scene. There was no better way to experience it than by spending a day in the life of a brewer.
Ira’s wife bid on and won a certificate at the Gateway Center’s Human Clay event held at Westminster. The Gateway Center is an incredible organization whose mission is to connect people experiencing homelessness with the support necessary to become self-sufficient. Every year the Human Clay event raises money to help fund the Gateway Center.
Ira spent a great day with JR, Steve and Garner working on a German style Kolsch. He was fascinated with both the “art and science” of the process from the recipe to having to adjust on the fly. He can’t wait to come back in 6-8 weeks to try his batch when it finds its way to the tap room. The best part of the day was JR sending him home with a sampler of the Bold Monk offerings. He got to sit on the couch, crack open a cold one knowing you can Drink Beer and Do GoodTM at the same time!
