We’re raising a glass here at Bold Monk Brewing Co., celebrating not just one but two incredible wins at the 2025 World Beer Cup! Taking home both a Gold and a Bronze at the World’s most prestigious beer competition is a testament to the passion and dedication of our brewing team.

On May 1, 2025, at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, our Virtue of Patience earned the Gold Award in the Wood and Barrel-Aged Fruited Sour Beer style category. This rich, tart, and fruity blend has always held a special place in our hearts, with roots tracing back to our first brewery, Max Lager’s, and its award-winning Excommunication.

We’re also celebrating a Bronze Award for Discipline Dubbel, our Belgian-Style Dubbel that delivers warm notes of toasted bread, brandied cherry, and caramel. We’re especially proud of this one—it’s a nod to our dedication to traditional Belgian brewing while keeping our Bold Monk spirit alive.

“To win any medal, much less a Gold in the World Beer Cup is simply amazing,” said John Roberts, our Brewmaster. “Winning Gold for the same beer category two years running is humbling. It shows the great work our team puts in consistently. Bronze for Discipline Dubbel is almost better as it shows that our true-to-style Belgian inspired beers are among the best in the world.”

The World Beer Cup, often called the “Olympics of Beer,” brings together the best brewers from around the globe. This year, 265 beer judges from 37 countries evaluated 8,375 entries from 1,761 breweries across 49 countries. To say we’re thrilled to be counted among the best in the world is an understatement.

Whether you’re a fan of Belgian-inspired Ales, American Ales, or Traditional Lagers, we invite you to come by and celebrate these wins with us. Cheers!
